The Island of eternal spring
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean belonging to Spain. The Island is located 400 km from the coast of Marocco. Like the neighboring islands, Tenerife is an island of vulanic origin. The largest Vulcano on the Island is El Teide, wich at 3,718 m is the highest mountain in Spain.
Climate and Landscape
Nature
Thanks to the tradewinds and the location, the climate in Tenerife is even with temperatures from around 19°C in winter to 25°C in summer. This is why Tenerife is also called the island of eternal spring.
The island is characterized by high mountain formations. The northern and western half of Tenerife has vegetated and fairly fertile valleys, where there are also extensive banana plantations.
The Oratava Valley is known for its highly variable natural beauty. The same goes for the Las Cañadas National Nature Reserve, located around the volcanoes Pico del Teide and Pico Viejo. The wild and rugged landscape of Las Cañadas is very similar to that of the moon.

The strip separating Tenerife from La Gomera is home to a colony of Indian pilot whales, as well as other dolphins and cetaceans. Several boats depart daily from the ports in the south to view the animals.
